THE continuing frequency of random fire-setting and arson in Tilbury is concerning local residents.

Many have taken to social media to express their fears after a surge in blazes in recent times and local councillor John Allen says he is taking up their worries with the borough council and emergency services.

The latest incident took place in North View Avenue on Sunday (15 December).

Local resident Joanne Swash was on hand to put the fire out but she is worried what will happen when no one is around.

She took to social media locally to say: "Not only did they set a fire on top of a play area they then walked off and left it burning!

"I've just put this out. Lucky it didn't go any further. Please speak to your children and explain if they want to keep themselves warm stay indoors!"

Her concerns have been echoed by a number of residents in the town, prompting Cllr Allen to say: "Well done Joanne for putting this out!

"Could you please send me an email regarding this so I can forward on an email to Essex Police."
