THE Amazon Fulfilment Centre in Tilbury has made a £1,000 donation to Dot.com Children's Foundation to help fund the purchase of devices.

Partnered with Essex Police and technology company DataArt, Dot.com Children's Foundation aims to educate children on online safety. The foundation aims to prevent children from becoming victims to online crime or being recruited by cybercriminals.

The foundation visits primary schools and uses technology to deliver programmes that teach children how to manage online risks and avoid danger.

Following the donation, members of the Amazon team in Tilbury paid a visit to Holy Cross Primary School to witness a Dot.com programme first-hand.

Sertac Yilmaz, General Manger at Amazon in Tilbury, said: "Amazon is passionate about teaching children the importance of using technology safely, so I'm glad our donation could help Dot.com purchase the devices they need to run their educational programmes. We had a great time at Holy Cross Primary meeting the charity team and the children taking part in one of these undoubtedly vital online safety workshops."

The donation forms part of the 'Amazon in the Community' programme whereby the company supports the communities around its operating locations across the UK.
