TEENAGE Thurrock chorister Ismael Dosoo has sung his way to the final of the BBC Young Chorister of the Year competition.

The former Gateway Primary School pupil from East Tilbury and chorister at St Paul's Cathedral, who is currently a student at Rugby School, was placed in the top three of Sunday's (11 October) televised semi-final.

Ismael's familiy watched avidly from the audience at Halle St Peter's in Manchester

In the semi-final he sang 'I Cannot Tell', to the words of 'Danny Boy' and won praise from the judges for his diction and use of dynamics. Judge David Grant said he has 'a really bright future ahead'.

Now viewers will be able to see how 15-year-old Ismael fared in the final of the senior chorister's competition to be televised this weekend. It can be viewed on BBC1 from 1.15pm on Sunday (18 October) or, after the broadcast on BBC iPlayer.
