It's got to come down! Officers lay down the law and reject application to save home extension that has angered neighbours
OWNERS of a Chafford Hundred property face having to pull down an extension that has been built without planning permission and is substantially different to a retrospective planning application.
Officers have ruled that the single storey rear extension and other outbuildings at 42 Weymouth Drive, are out of character with the area, impinge on neighbours' privacy and breach building standards.
Planning officers are also critical of the creation of several pens used for a large number of dogs.
The full report on the property can be read via this link.
Summing up in a notice of planning refusal offers say: "The rear extension and outbuilding by virtue of their scale, design, appearance and positioning relative to the respective boundaries would be poorly related to the existing property to the detriment of the character and visual amenity of that property and the wider area.
"The rear extension by reason of its size and flat roof has allowed the formation of an area that allows occupiers of the property to achieve views into the gardens of properties to the rear, to the detriment of the privacy and amenity of the occupiers of those properties.
"The outbuilding and extension, by virtue of the amount of built form would be disproportionate to the original dwelling and plot and lead to the additional built form removing a large part of the amenity area at the site resulting in unsatisfactory living conditions for current and future occupiers.
"And submitted plans do not reflect the exact nature of development that has taken place, neither do they detail all elevations of an alternative proposal. Accordingly, the local planning authority cannot be satisfied that there is not further harm arising."
