THE latest litterpick by the Thames in Grays will be tacking place today (Sunday, 7 May).

Residents are invited to joing the Friends of Grays Beachcombers - meeting at Thurrock Yacht Club, Grays RM17 6JF at 10:30 until 12 noon.

You will be able to take place in a Foreshore tidy with easy access. The wearing of sturdy shoes is recommended and there are limited facilities available.

River Action Clean-Up Facilitator Steve Catchpole has highlighted other events coming up that include:

Wednesday 17th May - Friends of North Thames Estuary - meeting at old St Clements Church, West Thurrock RM20 4AL from 10:30 to 13:00. Location as seen in the Four Weddings and a Funeral film. Equipment will be provided. Please wear weather appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear. We will be walking at least 3 mile collecting river rubbish and graffiti paraphernalia along the foreshore path - please note no facilities available.

Saturday 20th May - Friends of North Thames Estuary - meeting at The Wharf Hotel, Grays RM17 6SZ from 11:00 to 13:00. Equipment will be provided. Just wear weather appropriate clothing. We will be walking at least 2 mile collecting river rubbish along the foreshore - please note only limited facilities available in the pub.

Sunday 4th June - Friends of Grays Beachcombers - meeting at Thurrock Yacht Club, Grays RM17 6JF at 10:30 until 12:00. Foreshore tidy with easy access, please wear sturdy footwear - limited facilities available.

Saturday 24th June - Friends of North Thames Estuary - meeting at The Concrete Barges, Rainham RM13 9YQ from 10:30 to 13:30. Equipment will be provided. Just wear weather appropriate clothing. We will be walking at least 1 mile recovering river rubbish from the reed beds - Please note no facilities available.

Steve adds: "The 24th June event at the Concrete Barges has always been very popular and a very interesting location with the barges, the river, the bird sanctuary, views of Canary Wharf etc and plenty of plastic to collect."
