A BOROUGH councillor has been thanked for his contribution and support for the Indian community in Thurrock – and in turn has expressed gratitude for their efforts towards cohesion, unit and friendship.

Labour councillor Srikanth Panjala, who represents Aveley & Uplands ward, was recently invited to attend celebrations to mark the Lohri, Makar Sankranthi and Pongal festival programme in South Ockendon.

He says: "It was wonderful to participate in this event and a great honour. I would like to appreciate the organisers' effort and wish them all the best for their growth in the future."

Cllr Panjala also shared the message he received which read: "On behalf of the entire 'Indians in Thurrock' community, I extend our sincere gratitude for gracing our recent celebration with your esteemed presence.

"Indians in Thurrock' is a vibrant and diverse group that comes together to celebrate our rich cultural heritage and create a sense of belonging in Thurrock.

"We organise various events, fostering unity, friendship, and cultural exchange within our community.

"Your presence at our celebration added immense value, and we are truly honoured to have had you join us. Your support means a lot to us, and we appreciate the time you took to be a part of the festivities. Once again, thank you for being with us and contributing to the joyous atmosphere. We look forward to more opportunities for collaboration and community engagement."
