A 'CATS, cake and cuddles' event in Chafford Hundred proved to be a great success at the weekend.

It was organised at the Beacon Centre on Drake Road in aid of the Bow Lodge Babies Cat Rescue which covers Thurrock and Kent.

The group's Sarah Revell was delighted with the response and said: "A huge thank you to our wonderful supporters have not only stocked us up with food, litter and treats, but you have also raised a massive £700 to pay towards our vet bill.

There was a long queue to get in!

"Thank you to Tesco, Lakeside and Drake Road, Chafford Hundred, Aldi, Grays and M&S Lakeside for their generous cake donations.

"Also, thank you to everyone that supported us today, our amazing volunteers and their children, our people with stalls, everyone who donated whether money, cakes, tombola items or cat food.

"We apologise for the wait, we really were not expecting such a huge turn-out, and sorry to anyone who didn't get in."
