AN open meeting will take place this weekend to help plot the future of the historic Horndon on the Hill Feast and Fayre.

After a two year intervention because of the covid pandemic, the event returned this year and was declared a resounding success by visitors and organisers alike.

Now thoughts turn to next year's event - and for once it will be without the guiding hand of village stalwart Kim Towlson, who has decided to step down from his Feast and Fayre duties.

He has resigned his role as chairman, which has been taken over by James Reynolds and Nick McDonald as co-chairman.

In a statement the committee expressed appreciation for Mr Towlson's efforts, saying: "The committee and other parties involved in the event would like to thank Kim for his time and commitment over the past 30 years.

And the committee is inviting local residents to attend a meeting at the village's Woolmarket this Saturday (8 October) between 3 and 5pm.

The committee asks residents: "What's our purpose? How can we improve? What help and support do we need? How can you help? If you would like to be involved please come along or perhaps join the committee. Or contact us by Facebook."
