Langdon Hills retirement village plan will have to wait for final approval

COUNCILLORS who were due to rubber stamp their approval of a massive new homes and leisure development at Langdon Hills Golf course will have to wait at least another month.

At last week's Thurrock Council planning meeting councillors went against their officer recommendation and approved plans for more than 150 new homes and a leisure complex on the site of one of the centre's nine hole courses.

Under planning rules, because they went against advice, the councilors were forced to have to debate the issue a second time and come up with reasons for their decision.

The matters should have been debated at tomorrow's (Thursday, 19 March) meeting but it is not on the agenda.

A council spokesperson told Thurrock Nub News: The applicant submitted a significant amount of new information to be considered and it is not possible to bring the item to the March meeting of the planning committee. This is to ensure that the additional information is carefully considered and members of the planning committee are provided with robust advice.

"Once that additional information has been consulted upon and fully considered, a report is expected to be presented at the next available meeting in April."
