A THIRD major planning application has now been submitted to Thurrock Council for land to be developed at Chadwell St Mary.
The aim is to build 116 homes in a mix of houses and flats on land to the north of Biggin Lane and to the east of Chadwell Hill.

The site is in the green belt, but the applicants, NWM Properties, are hoping it will be classified as 'grey belt' a new definition drafted by the labour government last year to encourage housebuilding.
They add the site "makes a weak contribution to this Green Belt purpose and therefore development on the site would not result in unrestricted sprawl due to the contained nature of the site and the surrounding area."

Access to the site would be through a new junction created on Chadwell Hill.
In their planning statement the applicants say they are committed to making financial contributions towards education, health and highway improvements.
Residents and interested parties can comment on the application here.
The new application joins two others currently before Thurrock Council for Chadwell.
A number of recent applications have targeted Chadwell as a potential growth area.
In September Thurrock Nub News reported on a proposal for 350 new dwellings on land north of Chadwell.
That application came on the heels of a major bid for 1,500 new homes to be built that will extend Chadwell St Mary eastwards – towards the planned new 830-1,000 home development already given permission to the west of Linford and East Tilbury.
Thurrock Council was by-passed in that decision, with the government giving approval following a planning hearing in November.
