THREE local good causes shared more than £4,260 today (Saturday, 20 November) when the charity fundraising campaign reached its conclusion.

Each year Co-op stores ask local people to nominate deserving community causes and three are selected to benefit.

When Co-op members buy selected Co-op products and services from the local store, 2p for every £1 spent is donated by the Co-op to support community organisations and local causes.

Today, at the Co-op store on Socketts Heath in Grays representatives of the three causes selected attended a short ceremony to collect their cash.

Thurrock Harriers, Thurrock Swimming Club and Thurrock Play Network received their payouts.

Harriers received £1,458.51, the swimming club £1,439.44 and the play network £1,362.63.

The next good causes to be supported by the branch are Grays Town Band, BATIAS and the 180 Project.

You can follow Co-op activities at Socketts Heath and other Co-op stores, plus details of all the community support offered by the Co-op on our Co-op Community Chat page.
