Lodges from across The Cross Keys Masonic Centre in Chadwell St Mary got together once again on Saturday night (19 November) in the cause of charity.

A quiz night raised more than £1,000 which will be spent on Christmas Community Projects throughout the Thurrock area.

In recent months these events organised by members throughout the Cross Keys Centre and they raised almost £5,000 with donations helping to pay for brass bands at care homes, children's parties, festive dinners and competitions for local schools.

On Saturday evening more than 70 Freemasons and their guests were treated to Christmas music, dinner, raffles and games plus the quiz itself with questions ranging from Patagonians to Presidents and Saffron to the Spice Girls. Can anybody remember the four ingredients of a Cosmopolitan?

Member Dave Baron said: "A fantastic time was had by all and the laughter continued well into the evening in what was a fabulous atmosphere.

"A special thank you must go to Wayne Bushell and his daughter Erin who acted as quizmasters for the evening."
