TO mark Volunteers Week the co-ordinator of Thurrock's Re-engage group has paid tribute to the many local people who help the borough's lonely older people.

Loraine Coleman says: "It's Volunteers Week and we are thanking all our fabulous Thurrock Re-engage Volunteers.

"We are so very grateful to all our dedicated, caring, generous and wonderfully kind volunteers for all they do to reduce loneliness and isolation with our elderly residents in Thurrock.

"You have changed lives and brought friendship and companionship to our very special tea party guests.

"Sending lots of love to you all, you are truly amazing."
