Today (Saturday 25 March) is the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade and it was marked in Grays High Street by a stall and local community representatives talking to the passing public.

They were focusing on issues involving modern slavery when people are held against their will and forced into a life which can include forced labour, forced domestic servitude and criminal/sexual exploitation.

Thurrock Community Safety Partnership, Thurrock Safeguarding Adults Board and the Thurrock Local Safeguarding Children's Partnership who works together to raise awareness of issues were present.
