Man arrested on suspicion of rape following incident at Stanford playing field

A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of rape following an incident which took place between 5pm and 11.50pm on Thursday, 30 September 2021 in a playing field off Billet Lane, in Stanford-le-Hope.

The area of the park was cordoned iff yesterday while a police forensic investigation took place.

A statement from the force today (Sunday, 3 October) says: "We believe the victim and suspect are known to each other and there is no wider threat to the public.

"A 20-year-old man from South Ockendon was questioned and has been released on bail until 24 October"
