A GRAYS man who hit two people with his car following an argument outside a pub in Orsett has been jailed for three-and-a-half years.
JJ Margetts had gone into The Foxhound pub in High Road on 26 October 2019, but following an earlier argument he was involved in, staff told him was barred and not allowed in. Three people inside the pub helped them get the 34-year-old to leave.
Following a scuffle, he left but then returned and began arguing with the people who had helped the bar staff remove him earlier.
It moved outside, where Margetts got into his car and struck the man and woman. The clipped the man's leg and the woman was forced over the bonnet and windscreen. She fell onto parked cars and lost consciousness. She suffered broken fingers, bruising and cuts.
Margetts, of Whitmore Avenue, was arrested in the early hours of the following day.
He denied causing grievous bodily harm without intent, actual bodily harm, and dangerous driving, but was convicted following a trial at Basildon Crown Court on 23 June.
He has now been sentenced to 18 months in jail for those offences, plus two years to run consecutively for possession with intent to supply class A drugs, which he admitted on 24 January last year.
Margetts was also banned from driving for three years and nine months, and made subject of a restraining order for five years.
