THURROCK Marching Brass are again shining a global light onto Thurrock and will be bringing the World's most accomplished Brass Band, the Cory Band to two events that they are hosting.

The first is in Basildon on Saturday, 16 May, where Philip Harper and the Cory Band will be making a guest appearance at the Indoor Music Games Essex (www.indoormusicgames.org) show, which will see musical talents from all across the United Kingdom come together and entertain us in a number of classes that include both moving and static performances.

That same evening Matching Brass host Philip and The Cory Band at the Thurrock Civic Hall.

Marching Brass has entered into a development partnership with The Cory Band which will see the youngsters of Thurrock Marching Brass enjoy a number of exciting experiences over the next 12 months with them.

A little reminder of some of the achievements so far: Thurrock Marching Brass (with an average age of just over 11 years and with 95% of the youngsters coming from within the borough) was re-launched in 2010 and have secured 4 British Championship Titles at the Junior level and 5 British Championship Runners-up titles at the Junior level.

The students under Marching Brass care have been prolific at the National Individual & Ensembles competitions in this same time frame and winning more than 130 medals across all disciplines.

Adding to that the group also secured a World Record with Guinness in Thurrock at the Aveley Football Ground for the Longest Line of Fanfare Trumpeters, taking the record from seven joint regiments of Her Majesty's finest musicians at the time.

Chairman Paul Morgan says: "Everyone in the Marching & Performing Arts worlds not just here in the UK but across Europe and the US associate the name of Thurrock with high achievement. Something we are extremely proud of and so I am very honored to be bringing the World's #1 Brass Band to the borough."
