Woman admits theft from charity shop - plus other cases from regional courts

TWO charges of assault against a Corringham resident were dismissed at Basildon magistrates' Court when the prosecution offered no evidence.

However, Charles Obukofe, 54, of Church Road, was given a restraining order banning him from contacting three women he was alleged to have assaulted other than through a prior arrangement or through the police.

The restraining order runs until January 2021.

In an unconnected case another man also appeared before magistrates charged with assaulting two women and they were dismissed. Defendant Perry Adams, 52, of Argent Street, Grays, will be awarded costs from central funds.

AN Aveley man will have to live under curfew rules and carry out 150 hours of unpaid community work after being found guilty of a number of offences, including assault.

Liam Scott Martin, 18, of Dacre Crescent will be restricted to being at his home address between designated times.

He had pleaded not guilty to destroying a TV set belonging to Lynn Saunders and assaulting her, making a threatening call to Samantha Martin and being in breach of bail conditions.

He denies a further charge of stealing a pedal cycle, which will be heard at trial in March.

MARK William Lawrence, 23, of Kelvin Road, Tilbury, pleaded guilty to a number of charges, including assaulting police officers, when he appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court.

He was released on bail until sentencing on 14 February on a number of conditions, including he live under curfew orders at his Tilbury home and he does not contact Kathleen Coggin, directly or indirectly. He is also barred from entering Burns Place, Tilbury.

He admitted stealing items from Ms Coggin and also damaging hanging baskets belonging to Mary Coggin in South Ockedon. He is also guilty of assaulting two police officers, possession of cannabis and being in breach of previous bail conditions.

VADIM Jundo, of Sachfield Drive, Chafford Hundred, admitted assaulting Natalie Jundo. He will be sentenced at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on 17 February and in the meantime is released on bail on condition he does not contact his victim save through a named person in relation to child contact.

AN 18-year-old man from Stanford-le-Hope admitted failing to attend meetings imposed as part of a rehabilitation order after he was found guilty of carrying a large bayonet.

The original rehabilitation order was revoked and Harry Tokley of St Margarets Avenue must now live under curfew conditions for three months at his home address and not leave it between 7pm and 7am. He will have to carry out 80 hours unpaid community work.

A 16-YEAR-old boy from Aveley, who cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted being drunk and disorderly, assaulting two police officers and carrying a knife.

South Essex Youth Court heard the boy, who was not in court, suffers from mental health conditions. He was ordered to appear before magistrates for sentence next month and has to live under curfew conditions in the meantime.

ADAM McCauley Clarke, 26, of London Road, Grays, has pleaded not guilty to driving without due care and attention, causing a driving incident in which four people were injured and then failing to report it.

He is ordered to appear for trial at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on 24 March.

A 55-Year-old Grays woman has pleaded not guilty to assault. Deborah Sills of Sleepers farm Road, Grays, will appear for trial at Basildon Magistrates' Court on 20 March.

A WOMAN who appeared before Basildon Magistrates' court on a number of charges, including theft and assault, was remanded in custody because of her previous record, bad character and the likelihood of further offences.

Martha Ernest, 39, also known as Martha Ayanfalu, gave two address - the Premier Inn on Stonehouse Lane, Grays, and Corve Lane, South Ockendon, when she came before magistrates.

She has pleaded guilty to a number of charges including theft from a St Luke's charity shop in South Ockendon, other thefts an possession of drugs but she denies several assault charges.

ASHTON Mason Jay Brooke, 31, of Charles Street, Grays, pleaded guilty of stealing clothes valued at £380 from River Island at intu Lakeside shopping centre.

However, he denied stealing a pedal cycle worth £625 from Peter Morgan and will now face trial at Basildon magistrates Court in April - when he will also be sentenced for the first offence. He was released on unconditional bail.
