A 29-YEAR-old company managing director from Chadwell St Mary was spared a driving ban after reaching the 'totting up' limit by driving without insurance.
Basildon Magistrates' Court heard that Roice John Gummer, of Sabina Road, worked across two sites in Essex and Surrey and had responsibility for 14 employees, on whom a ban might impact.
Magistrates also heard his partner was in full time education and he was responsible for taking children to school and pre-school on at least three days a week, which would not be easy with a small child. And, as the breadwinner in the family, the loss of licence could mean the loss of the family home, impacting on the children, as he would not be able to pay the rent.
While six points were added to Gummer's licence, disqualification was not enforced. He was fined £640 and ordered to pay costs and a surcharge totalling £154.
