Men tried to set car alight in residential street

POLICE and firefighters were called to an incident in Stanford-le-Hope last night (Friday, 19 June) after a group of men tried to set a car alight.

The incident happened on Kingsman Road when residents called the police after being alerted.

A statement from the police says: "We are investigating after a car was damaged and attempts made to set it alight.

"We were called to Kingsman Road, Stanford-le-Hope, shortly before 10.30pm on 19 June.

"A group of men were seen smashing the windows of a Ford Mondeo and trying to set it alight.

"Enquiries remain ongoing and witnesses and anyone with information are asked to call the Grays local policing team on 101 quoting reference 42/89221/20."
