New year, new job and a new marathon challenge for college head

AFTER nine years of failed ballot attempts, the recently-appointed principal of South Essex College in Grays, Brad Brooks, has successfully got a charity place in the London Marathon 2024!

Mr Brooks says: "I am very proud to be running on behalf of Teenage Cancer Trust, which is amazing charity that supports young people through traumatic periods of their life."

He is looking support from the South Essex Colleges Group family in hopes of raising £2000, of which he has already hit 34%.

Mr Brooks was appointed recently and started the new year term at the college on Grays High Street.

Of his appointment he says: "I am pleased and proud to share that I am starting a new position as College Principal - Thurrock College as part of the South Essex College of Further and Higher Education Group.

"This is an exciting challenge for me and I am looking forward to working with the whole team to offer the curriculum that the Thurrock community need whilst providing an outstanding student experience for all that come through our doors.

"I look forward to working with my Thurrock-based connections to serve the community and to make a positive impact to all in the local area.
