A SHORT inquest today (Thursday, 6 April) confirmed that a young Thurrock man died in a car crash on a rural road and no other vehicle was involved.

A hearing took place into the circumstances surrounding the death of  East Tilbury man Finnlay Lowe, who was killed in a crash in the village in the early hours of Wednesday, 3 August.

At Chelmsford Coroner's Court coroner Michelle Brown heard that Finnlay, 20, was the sole occupant of the car when it crashed and left the road. He died at the scene having suffered severe injuries.

Details of the incident were considered by the coroner who then recorded a verdict, saying: "This was a single occupant RTC, and the conclusion is one of Road Traffic Accident. There were no other parties involved."

Following Finnlay's death, his mother Helen thanked the local community for its overwhelming support in the wake of her son's death.
