THURROCK has a new day nursery after plans were approved for a former Salvation Army hall to be converted.

The decision ends a long-running wrangle between the nursery owners and residents in another part of the town, as reported on Thurrock Nub News in September when the application was submitted.

The building on Corringham Road Stanford-le-Hope will be used as a day nursery for up to 30 children after winning planning consent.

Three full time members of staff will care for the children aged up to 11, with older children catered for before and after school and during school holidays from 7am to 7pm Monday to Friday.

Environmental health officers recommended the nursery undertakes a noise management plan to mitigate noise during outdoor play times.

They said: "Unlike schools, nurseries tend to operate all year round without the respite provided by holidays. Nurseries also tend to have much smaller outdoor areas that are used at different times by different age-groups of children from anytime up to 6:30pm."
