Officers act to stop violent situation in town centre - two to appear in court
TWO men are set to appear in court following an incident involving an offensive weapon in Corringham.
Essex Police have confirmed that officers responded to an emergency call in the town regarding a report of a fight on Tuesday, 17 December.
A statement says officers from the borough's town entre team were already in Stanford-le-Hope at the time conducting proactive patrols and they immediately responded. Two men were arrested.
Sergeant Ben Forbes, Thurrock's Town Centre Team leader, reported that 'after a few days off' his team were back on duty. He said: "It doesn't matter where officers are across the district, when an emergency call comes in, all officers respond to make sure members of the public are protected.
"My officers put themselves in the middle of a violent situational which involved an item being used as a weapon.
"Thanks to a joint investigation between Town Centre Team and Local Policing Team officers, I'm pleased to say charges have been issued against these two men.
"My, and the message of Essex Police, is clear. There is no place for violence on our streets or in our communities. We will robustly enforce the law and have zero tolerance for this."
Both men will appear in court in the coming month.
