AS part of the ongoing Essex Police engagement project, Op Sacred, Thurrock Police officers have attended events across the borough to build community relationships and create a localised understanding of faith groups within Thurrock.

Officers from the town policing team  recently attended the Corringham Baptist Church, and the Parohia Orthodox Church and conducted localised patrols, discussed local community issues and provided crime prevention advice.

Over the weekend, District Commander Atkin and members of the community policing team were in Grays where they attended Grays Park Mosque, for an interfaith Iftar.

The dinner was attended by leaders of different organisations and churches.

Hindi Temple, Tamil School, Grays Gurdwara, and Thurrock Helping Hands were among them, including local residents.

A statement from Essex Police says: "Officers attended in the hopes of continuing to build upon community relationships and create a localised understanding of the faith groups within our communities.

"The officers were able to discuss local community concerns and offer crime prevention advice.

"Officers from your Town Centre Team will periodically look to attend these locations, engage, provide crime prevention advice and look to create an open platform for communication and build trust within communities.
