THURROCK Police officers have recently been carrying out an operation in the heart of Grays which resulted in a number of arrests.
Officers from Thurrock's Neighbourhood Policing Team and Operation Support Group teamed up on Friday, 25 April to deploy Facial Recognition on Grays High Street.
A statement says: "With two vans and advanced facial recognition technology, officers made three arrests for wanted individuals and had more than 50 positive interactions with the public.
"One adult male was arrested for three warrant offences. Another was arrested for theft and an adult female arrested for assault.
"Thank you to all those that engaged with the officers."
The recognition operation followed up on the previous day's operation where the town centre was targeted by officers in plain clothes.
As a result of this operation, officers completed a number of stop and searches where they recovered stolen goods, taken from local retailers, and arrested a wanted male for an affray which took place on the High Street. The 16 year old male from Dagenham was arrested for affray and was released on bail while the investigation progresses.
A statement added: "Officers will be continuing to complete plain clothes and uniformed patrols of the High Street to tackle violent offences and retail crimes. You may not always see us however be aware that we may not always be in visible uniform."
