Thurrock Freemasons Reach New Heights with Lifesaving Donation to Essex Air Ambulance

By DAVID BARTON 30th Apr 2025

FREEMASONS from Rainham Lodgewhich meets in Thurrock touched down at Earls Colne with a £4,750 boost for the Esses and herts Air Ambulance.

Community, camaraderie, and a whole lot of heart were in full flight recently as members of Rainham Lodge soared into action, delivering the donation to the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust (EHAAT).

The lodge, based at Orsett Masonic Centre in Thurrock, made the special visit to EHAAT's Visitors Centre at the Earls Colne airbase, Accompanied by wives and friends, the group received a warm welcome from Senior Fundraising Coordinator Clair Mitchell and volunteer guide Peter Hennesey, who gave them a behind-the-scenes tour of the life-saving operation.

At the centre of this effort were Anil Shastri and his wife, Helen, who led a year-long community fundraising mission filled with fun, food, and friendship. From raffles and auctions to curry nights, karaoke, and classic afternoon teas, every event brought people together for a common cause: helping EHAAT continue their vital work. Even the humble donation bucket played its part, proving that small change really can make a big difference.

The money raised will directly support EHAAT's specialist pre-hospital care teams, who respond around the clock to emergencies across Essex and Hertfordshire, often reaching critically ill patients in just minutes, whether by helicopter or rapid response vehicle.

But Rainham Lodge isn't stopping there. Their much-loved 'Boys' Breakfast Club' continues to serve up support for local causes, delivering donations with a side of friendship and good cheer, ensuring their charitable work stays rooted in real community engagement.
