Bikers enjoy a great day by the river as tribute is paid to Queen Elizabeth and a rousing welcome made for King Charles
PURFLEET woke up to the roar of motor bikes on Sunday morning (11 September) as participants in the annual Purfleet-on-Thames Motor Bike Gathering took place.
Visitors watched them arriving at the Purfleet Heritage Centre for an event organbised and promoted by the Royal British Legion Riders branch.
The bikes were judged in readiness for the presentation of trophies by Alan Gosling, chairman of the Heritage Centre and Dave Hope from RBLR.
Before the awards and with the Union Jack flying at half-mast, visitors were asked to gather in the car park to remember the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. The Last Post was sounded followed by a minute's silence after which the National Anthem was played and ended with three cheers for King Charles III.
Six trophies were awarded, and they were very well received.
The Royal British Legion Riders and Purfleet Heritage Centre have expressed thanks to all the bikers and their machines, visitors and members of the Centre for attending the event.
