Park refurbishment is welcomed by forum and councillor

By Neil Speight 7th Jul 2022

REPRESENTATIVES of Purfleet-on-Thames Community Forum and local councillors have expressed delight with news that play equipment at Beacon Green is to be refurbished after a lengthy wait - and there is the prospect of new outdoor gym equipment as well.

The news comes following a meeting earlier this week involving the chair of the forum, John Rowles, local Labour councillor, Lee Watson and Thurrock Council officers.

As well as agreeing to refurbish the Beacon Green Park, the council has agreed to consult with local youngsters on long overdue improvements to the Spiderfield.

Mr Rowles said: "The parks needed a long overdue refurbishment for the community to enjoy. I am also please that the young people of Purfleet-on-Thames will have a say on the improvements to the parks".

Cllr Watson added: "I am really happy with the positive meeting with council and delighted the parks will be refurbished for the enjoyment of the community. I also want to pay tribute to the hard work of John Rowles and all of the Purfleet-on-Thames Community Forum - they are really helping to make a positive change in our community."
