HOMEBUILDERS Persimmon Homes has pledged to act to complete works on a new Thurrock Housing estate – but it is not now likely to be until next year!

But the good news is another of their long-running problems could be finally brought to a conclusion.

Thurrock Nub news reported yesterday (Friday, 31 July) on problems on the new estate at Woodside in Grays – where residents say communal areas that should have been finished years ago have been left in a state of disrepair.

They say that has led to anti-social behavior – culminating in a huge grass fire on Thursday evening.

Today (Saturday, 1 August) Persimmon has responded and Richard Hush, construction director at Persimmon Homes Essex, said: "We are in the process of finalising all aspects of work under our remit and would like to reassure residents that we are committed to achieving this at the earliest opportunity.

"We have recently held several meetings with the management company regarding their adoption of the wild flower meadow but with some further landscaping work being needed unfortunately this cannot be done until the new planting season. As soon as we are able to complete this work we will ensure this is handed over to the management company."

Thurrock Nub News also highlighted the problematic Buckingham Hill Road and Stanford Road junction, where a botched traffic light installation has caused more than a yer of problems for motorists.

However, that may soon be remedied.

Mr Hush added: "In respect of the Buckingham Hill and Stanford Road signalised junction, all of the junction works are completed however, we are waiting for BT to complete their diversion works in the next two weeks before the permanent traffic signals can be commissioned."
