MORE detail has emerged of the incident last night (Monday, 28 March) when emergency services rushed to the side of the Thames in Grays.

A large number of vehicles, including three fire engines and four ambulances attended and an ambulance later took one person to hospital.

It transpires someone, reported to be a woman, had become trapped in mud close to the jetty adjacent to Thurrock Yacht Club on Thames Road.

A statement from the East of England Ambulance Service says: "We were called to Argent Street in Grays just after 6.30pm yesterday following reports that a person was stuck in mud.

"Four ambulances, a rapid response vehicle and a senior paramedic were sent to the scene and were assisted by colleagues from the Fire and Rescue Service and the Coastguard.

"One patient was transported to the Basildon Hospital for further care."

A statement from Essex Police adds: "We were called by colleagues in fire service at around 6.30pm on Tuesday 29 March following concern for the welfare of a person at Kilvert Wharf, Thames Road, Grays.

"We attended and met with colleagues from fire and ambulance services and a teenager was left in the care of paramedics."
