Pete's on the mend as community rallies to support popular driver and his family after collision
THE East Thurrock community is rallying around a popular taxi driver who was seriously injured in a collision while helping a 98-year-old woman in Corringham recently.
Peter House, who lives in the town, was outside his vehicle and helping his passenger close to the Morrisons store when a collision with another vehicle occured.
He sustained serious injuries and is still in hospital, though is reported to be making a steady recovery.
However, he will be unable to return to work for some time, so friends and members of the local community have rallied and set up a fundraising page to help him and his family.
It has already exceeded its small initial target but friends are now hoping it will push on towards the £1,000 barrier and possibly beyond.
While Pete is recovering in hospital, his passenger - Gwen - who was not injured but was left badly shocked by the incidents, is also doing well and friends and relatives are hoping it won't be two long before the redoubtable local duo are able to get back on their feet and carry on their normal lives.
