PLANS have been unveiled for a " vibrant new community" with up to 300 "attractive, environmentally friendly homes" in Vange,m close to its border with Thurrock.

Developer EA Strategic Land has written to residents and circulated a leaflet with information about its initial proposals. The plans include one, two, three, and four-bedroom homes on land northeast of London Road in Vange, between the Five Bells Junction and Basildon Golf Course.

The plans also include open spaces such as children's play areas and walking and cycling routes. The leaflet also says feedback and comments made relating to the proposals will be taken into account when plans are drawn up to submit to Basildon Council.

In the leaflet, the developer says: "We are writing to let you know about our plans to build a vibrant new community on land to the northeast of London Road in Vange. EA Strategic Land would like to build a neighbourhood of up to 300 attractive, environmentally friendly homes. We would provide a mix of one, two, three and four-bedroom homes, giving opportunities to everyone from first-time buyers to families and downsizers. This would include 50 per cent affordable homes.

"Summary of the plans: up to 300 new homes, a new vehicular access from London Road, new public open spaces including children's play areas, new seating and picnic areas, wildflower meadows and recreational walking routes, 24 acres of proposed green infrastructure (the equivalent size of 15 football pitches, including the retention of the local wildlife site.

"The proposed development would help support Basildon Council in meeting local housing needs.

"We understand the need for housing for local people in the Basildon area and hope this development would assist in providing much needed homes, including for those working at the nearby Basildon Hospital.

"We anticipate this development would help provide significant economic benefits through investment in the local area."

Residents and interested parties can give feedback on the proposed development by October 25. To comment and or for more information contact [email protected].
