PLANS have been flagged up to Thurrock Council for a new cement manufacturing site at the Port of Tilbury.

As a precursor to a possible planning application Aggregate Industries UK Ltd have asked the council if an Environmental Impact Assessment Scoping Opinion is required for the construction and operation of a manufacturing facility within the port boundary.

The submission follows informal dialogue with officers at Thurrock Council.

Details of the submission can be found via this link .

The site within the port has been identified as a potential long term strategic replacement for the company's cement import facility at Chatham when the lease expires. It will also consolidate current purchases from third party facilities. Aggregate Industries say the facility will generate an additional 15 to 20 jobs in the local area.
