Police closed road as they investigated fatal collision in Grays

ROADS in Grays have been closed while police investigate an incident when a car hit a stationary vehicle, resulting in the death of a man.

It happened in Bridge Road this morning (Saturday, 31 August).

A statement early this afternoon from Essex Police said: "Officers are currently on scene of a serious collision in Bridge Road, Grays.

"We received a call reporting a car had been in collision with a parked vehicle at around 8.45am today (Saturday, 31 August).

"The road is closed while we carry out our enquiries and we'd advise residents and motorists to avoid the area."

Later, police gave more details, saying: "A man has died following a collision in Grays.We were called to reports a grey Volkswagen Golf had been in collision with parked cars in Bridge Road at around 8.45am today (Saturday 31 August).

"Sadly, the man, who is in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The road had been closed while we investigated and recovered the vehicle but it has now re-opened.
