Police confirm probe into mutilated cat's death and ask public for help with investigation

POLICE have confirmed an investigation into a cat killing in Thurrock and have asked the public to be vigilant and alert them about any further concerns.

Earlier this week Thurrock Nub News told the story of the death of much-loved per cat Wotsit in Chadwell St mary. His body was discovered, behanded and mutilated on a local playing field.

An investigation has been launched by police after the discovery on a footpath between Aluric Close and Felicia Way, on Thursday, 17 April.

Chief Inspector Jenna Mirrington-French said: "I am aware that this is shocking news to everyone concerned.  

"As part of our enquiries, we will be speaking to those involved in the tragic discovery of the body to ascertain any investigative opportunities able to identify those responsible and we've spoken to the owner.

"I'd encourage anyone who has information about this incident to contact us as soon as possible.

"At this time, we are not aware of any wider risk within the community or any links to other incidents."

A police appeal for information says: "If you have any information, CCTV, dash cam or other footage in relation to this incident, then please get in contact with us quoting crime reference 42/52456/25 when providing any information to make sure it gets to the right person as quickly as possible.
