Police get busy on the trail of illegal bikers

OVER the weekend Thurrock Police delivered on their promise to attend a number of sites in the borough were illegal motorbike riding has been taking place.
Officers from the borough force's community policing team turned up at off road scrambler hot spots including Oliver Road in West Thurrock and areas around Stanford-le-Hope. They also turned up to patrol areas around Woodside Close in Grays in the wake of concern expressed by residents.
Though the police had given warning that they would be out and about there were a number of riders who were spoken to about their activities.
Officers were also present in South Ockendon where, on Mollands Lane today (Sunday, 7 March) a scrambler bike was seized under section 59 of the Police reform act 2002 after having a previous section 59 warning in the past 12 months.
Police have warned they will not be letting up and have referred any potential lawbreakers to read up on what they can and cannot do to a page on their website.
