POLICE officers in Thurrock and colleagues drafted in from other parts of the Essex Force have been raising policing profiles in local towns and communities this week.

On Monday (10 February) officers from the Thurock Community Policing Team conducted specific patrols in Grays and Tilbury.

They were acting as part of 'Op Stronghold' was a special operation created to engage with local communities, provide a visible presence, gather intelligence and tackle street crime such as shoplifting and Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB), incidents.

The officers focused their patrols in both Grays High Street and surrounding areas as well as Tilbury area, including Koala Park and Mulberry Way.

On Tuesday attention switched to Corringham where officers focused their patrols around Corringham town centre and the Grover Walk shopping precinct and surrounding areas.

Officers at Conrad Court.

Officers also followed up on a recent residential burglary, by visiting residents of Conrad Court, a residential retirement complex in Stanford-le-Hope.

The officers aimed to provide reassurance and share knowledge on crucial topics such as burglary and personal safety, as well as online fraud, and AI-generated fake calls.

On Wednesday evening a team of officers, including some drafted in from Southend, patrolled Grays town centre through the early evening.

A statement from the force says: "Conducting foot patrols is always a positive way to show that officers do still conduct targeted proactive patrols, which in a lot of cases can also be a deterrent.

"We are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our communities. Remember, staying informed and vigilant is key to preventing crime.

"Together, we can create a safer environment for everyone.

"You may see our officers walking through your area. If you do, don't hesitate to stop and say hello or approach them to ask for assistance or advice."
