BOROUGH-based police officers are stepping up their profile in Tilbury, while specialist crime teams are looking to forge links with the tiwn's businesses.

Promoting a forthcoming event, police in Thurrock say: "Are you a business owner or team member in Tilbury?

"Join officers from the Business Crime Team and Thurrock's Town Centre Team for an Online Business Forum where we'll be discussing local concerns, sharing updates, and exploring ways to work together to tackle community issues."

The event will take place on Friday, 29 August at 10am on the Microsoft Teams platform.

Police add: "This forum is open to all business types and sizes—whether you're a shop owner, part of a logistics team, or running a local café, your voice matters.

"Our officers will be on hand to listen, support, and collaborate with you to help make Tilbury a safer and stronger place to do business.

"To request a link to join the forum, email [email protected]. Let's build a better Tilbury - together."

Meanwhile, police say they are continuing to patrol public spaces in the town.

A statement says: "Neighbourhood Policing Team officers carried out high-visibility patrols at Anchor Fields Park and King George's Field, in Tilbury, following recent concerns raised by local residents on social media about a suspicious individual seen loitering in the area.

"We want to thank the community for staying vigilant and sharing their concerns — your voices help us respond quickly and effectively.

"Your officers were on the ground to offer reassurance, keep an eye out for anything unusual, and engage with park users. In fact, they even took a moment to test their football skills with some of the young locals — a great way to build trust and have a bit of fun while keeping our parks safe!

"We're continuing to monitor the area and any further reports regarding this individual.

"We encourage anyone with information or concerns to report them directly to us by telephoning 101 or online — https://www.essex.police.uk/ro/report/ocr/af/how-to-report-a-crime/
