Police will be targeting biker hot spots - and there's a warning for e-scooter riders

ESSEX Police has warned illegal motorbike riders that they will be targeted – particularly at two local hotspots where riders have been spotted.

They are at Billet Lane in Stanford-le-Hope – and across the borough on conservation land off Oliver Road, a venue highlighted on Thurrock Nub News last week.

Police say: "Officers will be out and about looking to tackle nuisance vehicle incidents across the Thurrock district, paying particular attention to recent hotspots in Stanford-le-Hope and West Thurrock.

"If you are seen driving or riding in an anti-social manner, or causing annoyance to the local community, Essex Police has power under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002 to seize and remove your vehicle or place a warning on both you and your vehicle which lasts for 12 months.

"This warning would apply to you and any vehicle you drive or ride, as well as your vehicle and anyone who drives or rides it throughout that 12-month period."

Police have also warned riders on e-=scooters that they need to observe a code of conduct, adding: "Also with the rise in the popularity of electric scooters (or e-scooters) we wanted to provide some clear direction around the law and their use, find out more here.
