MANY members and visitors to a Thurrock golf club have been remembering singer and entertainer Kenny Lynch whose death at the age of 81 was announced today.

Kenny shot to fame in the early 1960s as the singer of top 10 hits including Up On The Roof and You Can Never Stop Me Loving You.

He also enjoyed success as a songwriter for other artists, with acts like Cilla Black and the Small Faces recording his compositions.

He became a regular celebrity on TV game shows and was also a popular figure on the charity fundraising circuit.

A keen golfer he appeared at a number of events at Langdon Hills Golf and Country Club where he would sit afterwards chatting and enjoying the company of members.

Club member Mark Thomas remembered him today saying: "He was a lovely chap, always made time for everybody. An entertainer and a gentleman, I am sure many a drink will be raised to his memory tonight."
