A LONGSTANDING volunteer at St Luke's Hospice has won an award for his commitment to the charity.

Mick Allen was announced the winner of the Fundraising Champion Award at this year's Basildon Volunteer Awards in November. Unfortunately, Mick was unable to attend the ceremony but was presented the award last week.

Mick regularly volunteers at a range of fundraising events and has managed to raise more than £21,000 for St Luke's over the last 24 years.

After Mick was presented with the award, Community Fundraiser at St. Luke's Hospice, Joanne Phillips, said: "It is fantastic that Mick has been awarded the Fundraising Champion Award, he is a very deserving winner! We are all in awe of the amazing work Mick does and we can't thank him enough for his ongoing support."

St Luke's offers care for those living with or affected by cancer and any other advanced, life-threatening illness in Basildon and Thurrock, and care is given within the Hospice or at home, wherever that may be.

If you would like to volunteer, contact the St. Luke's Hospice Fundraising Team on 01268 524973 or email [email protected].
