Praise for community's volunteers
A THURROCK councillor has praised volunteers from his community for their efforts to support young people.
Cllr Martin Kerin, who reprsents Grays Riverside ward, has lauded the Seabrooke Rise community who provided opportunities for local youngsters to participate in the Essex Boys & Girls Clubs 'Respect Project.'
The recent project, which saw a group of young people participate in an expedition to north Wales, was celebrated on Monday night at the Seabrooke Rise Community House.
Cllr Kerin, who was guest of honour at the presentation evening, heaped praise on Seabrooke Rise resident Gavin Lee who has now become a regular volunteer with the project:
"It was wonderful to hear the stories from the young people about how they left their comfort zone and took on challenging activities in rugged, rural Wales. They are a credit to themselves.
"I must thank my resident Gavin Lee who has consistently given his time so that local youngsters have the opportunity to take part in the Respect Project. Without volunteers like him, it simply wouldn't happen.
"My thanks, too, goes to: Anita Donovan of the Seabrooke Rise Community House and Monique Adewoju and Keith Cranmer of the Essex Boys & Girls Clubs. Long may this wonderful project continue!"
