THURROCK Council has now resubmitted a planning application to knock down the disused Prince of Wales pub in South Ockendon.

In a move that left some of its officers red-faced after a lack of communication, the council was forced to withdraw an earlier application to demolish the building as part of a plan to build new council houses on the site.

The council had not taken into account all the safety factors required for a demolition - and an inter departmental exchange highlighted the council's embarrassment. Thurrock Nub News reported on the story here.

However, the application is now back.
