THE East of England Ambulance Service has given some details of yesterday's incident in fields on the outskirts of Grays when a bike rider was injured.

The incident, whioch happened just after 5pm, promopted a significant response from the medical services including the air ambulance landing close to its site in fields to the rear of rear of Ashley Gardens.

An ambulance service spokesperson said: ""We were called just after 5pm with reports on a motorcycle accident in a field off Long Lane, Gray, Essex. Two ambulances, the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), an operations manager and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were sent to the scene.

"One patient was transported by land to Basildon & Thurrock Hospital."

The are has been problematic for some time with off road bike riders causing a nuisance. Last year Essex Police said they would be stepping up their attempts to deal with the problem. And in October last year, after the issue was brought to the forefront again by councilors including Joy Redsell and Ben Maney from Blackshots where yesterday's incident took place, police and Thurrock Council said they would be using additional cash to prioritise the problem.

Today police said they had no information or knowledge about yesterday's incident near Ashley Gardens.
