A BUSY Stanford-le-Hope road is going to get a makeover next month.

Thurrock Council is to carry out resurfacing work to a section of Victoria Road from an area just past the junction with Southend Road and Bell-Reeves Close.

Work is programmed for two consecutive days - Monday, 2 October and Tuesday, 3 October and the road will be closed to traffic between 8am and 5pm on both days.

In order to complete the work parking on the road will be suspended and the council is asking residents to find an alternativ e palce for their vehciles on both days.

During this work/road closure period, vehicle access to properties within the work area will be restricted and maintained only where practically possible.

Car access to Gentry Close, Ellie Close, Victoria Court, Bell-Reeves Close and Karen Close will be maintained via gatemen though access may be restricted or delayed for a short time if machinery is being used across the junctions.

Pedestrian access to properties is not affected and will be maintained at all times.

A statement from the council says"We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this work may cause and should you require any further information or assistance then please do not hesitate to contact us by email at [email protected] or calling 01375 366100.

Residents on Victoria Road, which is an extremely busy 'rat-run' for traffic trying to move from London Road to southend Road, have frequenlty complained about the lack of traffic management on it - and there have been a number of accidents.

It is likely to be one of the roads that features heavily in the forthcoming traffic management initiave planned for Stanford-le-Hope, featured last week on Thurrock Nub News.
