THERE was a sad ending to a mercy mission played out in East Tilbury yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, 26 May).

Emergency services including police, ambulance and the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance were called to an incident close to the Bata estate in the village.

A statement from Essex Police says: "We were called by the ambulance service at around 1.55pm with concerns for the welfare of a woman at an address in East Tilbury.

"We attended shortly afterwards but sadly the woman had died. Her death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for Her Majesty's Coroner."

The incident is not Covid-19 related.
