A THURROCK woman has been thanked for her work to support St Luke's Hospice, where she has been a patient for seven years.

Sandra Page, from Grays, organised an Open Gardens fundraising event last year. Sandra led the project and a team of five volunteers, to coordinate the opening of gardens to the public, across South Essex, which raised more than £13,600 for St Luke's.

Sandra has been a day patient at the Hospice for the past seven years.

As part of the Open Gardens fundraiser, local people donated considerable time and energy, and extended an invitation to the public to visit their beautiful gardens.

Kerry Chambers, the hospice's Community and Events Fundraising Manager, said: "Thank you to Sandra and to everyone who made Open Gardens such a wonderful success, which raised much needed funds for St. Luke's Hospice.

"The Hospice relies on the generosity of our local community to continue to provide specialist, palliative care and we're so grateful.

Open Gardens will be returning for summer 2023. If you would like to learn more contact hospice Fundraising team on 01268 524973 or by email at [email protected].
