THE head of a Thurrock school has taken part in the first of a number of 'face-to-face' question and answer sessions with parents.

Ceri Evans, head at Ortu Gable Hall School in Corringham, will also be taking parents on pre-booked tours of the school under social distancing conditions in the next few days – and he has extended the invitation to visit Gable Hall throughout the year.

The video sessions and visits are part of a response to criticism of the school by some parents on social media, with Mr Evans saying the school has nothing to hide and is open and honest about all his policies.

The video included a number of pre-submitted questions and then live questions posted by parents. Other teachers joined in to help explain policies to parents.

You can find out more about the school via its Facebook page here.

The school recently had to send a year group home because of Covid-19 and won both bouquets and brickbats for the way it dealt with the situation - prompting Mr Evans to set up the further interaction with parents.
