AROUND 500 youngsters from scout groups across the borough enjoyed an afternoon in the sun at Coalhouse Fort this afternoon (Saturday, 21 May).

The event was part of the Scouts annual trail event, with many of the youngsters walking to the East Tilbury venue along the seawalk after being dropped at East Tilbury station, thanks to free train tickets supplied by c2c.

Once at the park the children, ably supported by a host of leaders enjoyed games, activities and a picnic.

Next month Coalhouse Fort will play host to a Beacon lighting to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
